Joshua McGirr

Senior Managed Services Engineer

Josh is a reasonably new member of the IT brethren, compared to some of his Computer Culture colleagues, but has always been fascinated by computers and electronics, and about how things works in general. After working a year in a Service Desk role for an in-house IT department, he was promoted to a senior role of Technical Specialist, a role that had not existed at the company previously. He gets a lot of satisfaction out of helping others solve problems and expand their own knowledge. He is passionate about creating clear process and procedures to ensure that delivery of IT services is carried out consistently to a high standard. He has found that building strong relationships with customers and technology partners is one of the key levers for ensuring that everyone is in the best position to provide the best possible service they can.

Outside of the 9-5, Josh’s musical exploits take up most of his time and energy. He is a singer and trumpet player, having been a member of national music groups/ensembles and touring internationally. A large part of his musical career has involved tutoring and conducting primary school-aged groups of various shapes and sizes. He is currently holds a number of positions in the Christchurch Schools' Music Festival where every year he works with auditioned groups, all the way up to conducting a massed choir of 1,000 accompanied by an 80-student sized orchestra, all aged years 5-8.
